Yankees extend qualifying offer to Bednar, but not Chisholm
The New York Yankees have extended a one-year qualifying offer to relief pitcher David Bednar ahead of free agency, while opting not to make the same offer to infielder-outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. The move means Bednar would bring the Yankees draft compensation if he signs elsewhere, while Chisholm becomes a free agent without any offer attached. Fans and analysts are weighing what the decision signals about the club's offseason plans.
