Indian Navy in the spotlight over rescue and INS Brahmaputra case
Original: नौसेना
The Indian Navy is trending in India after two separate developments. Officers have been court-martialled following the capsizing of the frigate INS Brahmaputra in Mumbai, drawing scrutiny of naval safety standards. At the same time, the Navy rescued an Iranian fishing vessel and its crew of 20 from Somali pirates, renewing attention on piracy threats in the Arabian Sea and India's anti-piracy operations.
Why now: The Navy is simultaneously in the news for rescuing a hijacked Iranian vessel from Somali pirates and for disciplinary action over the INS Brahmaputra capsizing.
