Pacific Islands Forum leaders issue 2026 Ocean Statement

Original: 2026 Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Ocean Statement

Pacific Islands Forum leaders have released the 2026 Leaders Ocean Statement, setting out the region's collective position on ocean governance. The statement continues the Forum's long-running push for international action on climate-driven sea level rise, sustainable fisheries and protection of national maritime rights. It is being circulated by the Forum Secretariat and watched by regional governments and ocean policy observers.

Why now: Pacific leaders routinely draw attention with new ocean policy statements ahead of international climate and ocean negotiations
