Fire After Strikes Likened to a Portal to Mordor
Original: After the latest attacks, it feels as if a portal to Mordor is opening at the site of the fire. Just like in the movies.
Following a new wave of attacks, large fires at the targeted site are being described with imagery from Tolkien's Mordor, as if a gateway to the dark realm were opening there. Commenters in Ukraine are comparing the burning scenes to the movies, framing strikes on Russia as a fight against Mordor.
Why now: Ongoing Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory are producing dramatic fire imagery that people are sharing with dark-fantasy comparisons.
