James Packer to testify at Netanyahu corruption trial
Original: james packer
Australian billionaire James Packer is set to give evidence in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's long-running corruption trial. Packer, a longtime friend of the Israeli leader, is expected to answer questions about gifts and favours at the centre of one of the case's main charges. The prospect of the casino mogul appearing in a Jerusalem courtroom has drawn wide attention in Australia and Israel, with commentators questioning how damaging his testimony could be for Netanyahu's defence.
Why now: Packer's unexpected appearance as a witness in a sitting prime minister's corruption trial is a major and unusual development.
