108 girls killed to eliminate one, commenter laments world celebration
Original: Per eliminarne uno hanno ucciso 108 bambine e tutto il mondo gioisce. Mi sento abbastanza a disagio.
An Italian commentary, widely shared, states that 108 girls were killed in order to eliminate one target, and criticises what it describes as worldwide celebration of the event. The author expresses feeling deeply uncomfortable with that reaction. The claim, which appears to reference a recent Middle East military strike and its civilian toll, has drawn thousands of reactions as people debate the ethics of celebrating deaths amid heavy civilian casualties.
Why now: It taps into heated global debate over a recent strike with a high civilian death toll and the morality of celebrating it
