The former head office site of the Kudo-kai, a designated yakuza group in Kitakyushu, has held a pre-opening as a community space called 'Town of Hope'. Organisers are inviting residents to visit even without specific business, aiming to reclaim the location as a positive community hub. The story was covered by KBC Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting.
Why now: The transformation of a notorious crime group's former headquarters into a community space is a striking local story.
