Original: Ukrinform: «Selenskyj zu massivem Angriff Russlands: Hauptziel waren Energieanlagen, Stromerzeugung und Umspannwerke» ht
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a massive Russian attack on Ukraine had energy facilities, power generation and transformer substations as its main targets. The strikes hit critical energy infrastructure, raising renewed concerns about electricity supply for Ukrainian civilians, especially with heating demand high during the cold season. Ukrainian officials and commentators continue to condemn the repeated targeting of the country's power system.
Why now: A fresh large-scale Russian strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure has renewed fears of power shortages and blackouts for civilians.
