UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced plans for a major overhaul of public services, with promises of significant improvements to areas including social care. The announcement is drawing attention as a flagship domestic agenda item, with commentators weighing in on how the government intends to fund and deliver the reforms, and whether pledges will translate into visible change for users of the NHS and other services.
Why now: A newly prominent prime minister's major policy agenda on public services is naturally a talking point.
