New national home listing database challenges Compass over real estate data
Original: New national home listing database is taking on Compass in the battle for control of real estate information
A new national home listing database has launched, setting up a direct contest with Compass over who controls access to US residential real estate information. The effort targets Compass's practice of withholding listings from shared databases, an issue that has divided agents, brokerages and industry groups over how widely home data should circulate.
Why now: Ongoing industry conflict over listing distribution and Compass's private-listing strategy is drawing attention to the new database.
