Sudan Files UN and African Union Complaints Over RSF Drone Attacks
Original: Sudan Files UN And African Union Complaints Over Ethiopian-Territory RSF Drone Attacks: how 5 outlets framed it
Sudan has filed formal complaints with the United Nations and the African Union, alleging that drones launched from Ethiopian territory were used in attacks targeting army commanders, killing several civilians. The government says the strike originated from a neighbouring country's airspace and has vowed to raise the issue internationally. The Rapid Support Forces have denied any involvement in the attack. The move escalates tensions between Khartoum and Addis Ababa and adds a regional dimension to the ongoing conflict.
Why now: The formal complaints to the UN and African Union over cross-border drone attacks mark a significant diplomatic escalation in Sudan's conflict and strain relations with Ethiopia.
