Original: 138 and Counting—Russia Keeps Losing Its Deadly Thermobaric Rocket Launchers in Ukraine
Reports indicate Russia has lost roughly 138 thermobaric multiple rocket launcher systems since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. These weapons, often called the TOS-1 'Solntsepyok', are among the most destructive systems in Russia's arsenal, firing thermobaric rockets that create intense blast and heat effects. Their steady attrition highlights ongoing Ukrainian strikes on high-value Russian equipment.
Why now: The cumulative count of losses of one of Russia's most feared weapon systems underscores the grinding attrition of the war.
