Google to cut search access for schools blocking its AI

Original: Schools that block Google’s A.I. will lose student access to its search engine

Google will remove student access to its search engine at schools that block its artificial intelligence tools, according to a New York Times report. The policy ties a widely used free service to AI adoption, and the move is drawing criticism from educators and commentators who see it as coercive, forcing schools to choose between search access and restricting AI in classrooms.

Why now: The report sparked debate because Google is using its dominant search product to pressure schools into accepting AI tools.
