Film Quote on Peace and War Resonates Online
Original: "If we cannot find a way to make peace among the peoples, then the earth will be blackened. And there will be no flowers
A line from the 1968 film "The Shoes of the Fisherman" is being widely shared: "If we cannot find a way to make peace among the peoples, then the earth will be blackened. And there will be no flowers anymore, for any of us." The words are spoken by Anthony Quinn as Pope Kiril in Michael Anderson's drama about a newly elected pope confronting global conflict. People are circulating the quote as a warning about war and the urgent need for peace between nations.
Why now: The quote's warning about war feels newly relevant amid current global conflicts, so people are sharing it as a plea for peace
