New 'Cat in the Hat' film mocked for universe-level stakes
Original: Movie Review: 'The Cat in the Hat' ridiculously builds the stakes so high, the universe could die
An animated 'The Cat in the Hat' movie is drawing widespread criticism from reviewers, who say the adaptation absurdly inflates its stakes so high that the fate of the universe hangs in the balance. Syndicated reviews across multiple US outlets mock the film for abandoning the gentle, mischievous spirit of Dr. Seuss's classic book in favor of overblown, cartoonishly apocalyptic plotting typical of recent children's franchise films.
Why now: The film is newly released and critics are united in ridiculing its excessive plot escalation, making the reviews widely shared.
