Haley Stevens defends accepting Republican endorsement
Original: Haley Stevens defends Republican endorsement
Michigan congresswoman and US Senate candidate Haley Stevens is defending her decision to accept an endorsement from a Republican, sparking debate among Democratic voters about party loyalty and electability in the 2026 Senate race. Supporters argue cross-party backing shows broad appeal, while critics see it as a compromise of progressive values.
Why now: Primary-season tensions over centrist versus progressive strategy make her bipartisan appeal a flashpoint among Democratic voters.
