New advocacy brief urges climate justice ahead of COP31
Original: COP31: New advocacy brief calls for climate justice through increased…
The World Organisation Against Torture has published an advocacy brief ahead of the COP31 climate summit calling for climate justice through stronger human rights protections. The brief argues that climate change drives displacement, poverty and violence, and urges governments to treat climate harms as rights violations. It adds to mounting pressure on negotiators to centre human rights in the next round of climate talks.
Why now: Published ahead of COP31 as advocates push to put human rights and climate justice on the summit agenda.
