Indian and Pakistani PMs meet unexpectedly in Lahore
Original: The distinctly good news of this day is PM's of India and Pakistan holding hands after surprise meeting in Lahore.
Former Swedish prime minister and diplomat Carl Bildt highlighted a surprise meeting between the prime ministers of India and Pakistan in Lahore, describing the two leaders holding hands as distinctly good news. Any handshake or warm gesture between the leaders of the two rival neighbours is rare and carries symbolic weight for peace efforts in South Asia.
Why now: Any unexpected public display of warmth between India and Pakistan's leaders is highly unusual, making it notable amid long-standing tensions.
