Debate grows over WNBA moving to 48-minute games

A proposal for the WNBA to extend games from 40 to 48 minutes, matching the NBA format, is drawing criticism from fans. One common reaction is that if games are extended, ticket prices should be cut rather than raised, with some calling the idea unnecessary and arguing 40 minutes is not too short. Others say the league should not simply copy the NBA's model.

Why now: Reports that the WNBA may adopt 48-minute games have sparked backlash over ticket prices and the league's identity.
