Realbotix launches $11,950 humanoid robot Echo with subscription
Original: Realbotix Echo is an $11,950 humanoid with a face, a voice and a monthly bill
Realbotix has introduced Echo, a humanoid robot priced at $11,950 that features a face and voice, and carries an ongoing monthly subscription fee on top of the purchase price. The announcement has drawn attention for combining a high upfront cost with recurring charges, a model increasingly common in consumer robotics.
Why now: The high price tag plus a subscription model for a consumer humanoid robot is a notable and debatable pricing approach.
