SRT Called De Facto Standard Among Open Internet Transport Protocols
Original: Rethink: SRT Is ‘De Facto’ Standard Among Open Internet Transport Protocols
Industry trade publications TV News Check and TVTechnology are both carrying a piece arguing that SRT, the Secure Reliable Transport protocol, has become the de facto standard among open internet transport protocols. The claim positions SRT as the dominant choice for moving video and other media reliably over the public internet, a role long contested by competing protocols in the broadcast and streaming sector.
Why now: Trade press coverage of a protocol becoming the dominant open standard for internet video transport is prompting discussion among broadcast and streaming engineers.
