DHS Evaluates MANET Systems and Unmanned Ground Vehicles
The Department of Homeland Security is assessing mobile ad hoc network (MANET) communication systems alongside unmanned ground vehicles, according to ExecutiveGov. The evaluation looks at how self-configuring wireless networks could keep robotic ground platforms connected in environments where fixed infrastructure is absent or damaged, a capability relevant to border operations, disaster response, and first-responder communications.
Why now: Interest in military and homeland-security robotics and resilient battlefield-style networking has grown as agencies test autonomous systems for domestic operations.
