Booker draws Obama backing in race for McConnell's Senate seat
Original: charles booker
Kentucky Democrat Charles Booker has received former President Barack Obama's endorsement in his campaign for the US Senate seat long held by Mitch McConnell. Obama called Booker a leader who can build a coalition to improve life in Kentucky. State Republicans dismissed the endorsement, arguing that outside support from national Democratic figures will not help Booker with Kentucky voters in the competitive 2026 race.
Why now: Obama's high-profile endorsement of Booker in the contest for McConnell's former Senate seat has put the Kentucky race in the national spotlight.
