Nexus Mods, the largest mod repository in PC gaming, is introducing a new policy requiring mod authors to disclose whether artificial intelligence was used in their work when uploading new mods. The move makes AI declarations mandatory rather than optional, positioning the site on the question of generative AI in game modding. It is likely to spark debate among modders about creativity, transparency and the role of AI tools in community-made content.
Why now: Gamers and modders are debating how AI-generated content should be handled in community game mods.
