Original: ro khanna

Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna is calling on Congress to use a Vietnam War-era funding tactic to stop President Trump's military campaign against Iran, arguing lawmakers have the power of the purse to cut off money for unauthorized military action. The California congressman's comments are drawing attention as debate grows in Washington over presidential war powers and congressional authority regarding Iran.

Why now: Khanna's proposal to cut funding for Trump's Iran operations has revived debate over congressional war powers at a moment of active US-Iran tensions.
