Italy's M5S accused of leading Europe in fake news

Original: The M5S populist movement in Italy seems to be leading in Europe in fake news and Kremlin spin stories. https:// buzzfee

A BuzzFeed report finds Italy's Five Star Movement, the country's most popular political party, spreading more fake news and Kremlin-aligned stories than any other movement in Europe. Former Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt amplified the finding, saying M5S appears to lead the continent in false news and Russian spin. The claims fuel ongoing debate about disinformation in European politics.

Why now: Concerns over Kremlin disinformation and populist parties ahead of European political debates are drawing attention to the report.
