Apple Maps restores Gaza building data as Google shows destruction

Original: RE: https:// attractive.space/@Setok/117554 916391984520 I can confirm that Apple Maps has ‘put all the buildings back’

Posts circulating on Mastodon claim Apple Maps has restored building footprints in Gaza that had been missing, while Google Maps continues to mark large parts of the territory as destroyed in the conflict. Users are comparing the two mapping services side by side and reading the difference as a statement on the scale of destruction caused by Israeli military operations in the Palestinian territory.

Why now: Mapping data on Gaza has become a proxy for debating the extent of destruction from the war, prompting people to compare Apple and Google imagery.
