An astrophotographer at Lake Tyrrell in Victoria, Australia, turned east after imaging the Milky Way to photograph Scorpius rising ahead of Orion, referencing the Greek myth in which the hunter and the scorpion are placed on opposite sides of the sky so they never meet. The image highlights the constellation's bright stars and the dark skies over the salt lake that draw night-sky photographers.
Why now: Striking astrophotography and the timeless Orion-Scorpius myth continue to attract attention from skywatchers.
