Brazil, which hosted last year's U.N. climate summit, has released a roadmap laying out how countries can transition away from fossil fuels, calling the shift "necessary, urgent and yet possible." The plan was published days before the COP31 climate conference begins next week, and is intended to guide international negotiations on phasing out oil, gas and coal.

Why now: It lands just before the COP31 climate summit, where fossil fuel transition will be a central negotiating topic.
