Trump says he will accept election results
Original: Trump Says in Interview That He Will Accept Election Results
President Donald Trump said in an interview with New York Times reporters that he will accept the results of elections, and blamed recent Republican losses on the fact that his name was not on the ballot. He also signalled a willingness to work with Democrats, remarks drawing attention given his earlier refusal to commit to accepting outcomes.
Why now: His past refusal to commit to accepting election results makes his renewed assurance politically significant and widely discussed.
