Bitget hit by $387.5 million breach via third-party security flaws
Original: Bitget suffered a CRITICAL breach ($387.5M stolen) via zero-days in two 3rd-party security appliances. Hot/warm wallets
Crypto exchange Bitget has suffered a major security breach in which roughly $387.5 million was stolen. Attackers exploited zero-day vulnerabilities in two third-party security appliances to access hot and warm wallets holding ETH, XRP, BNB, AVAX, USDT and USDC. Security researchers are urging organisations to suspend similar systems and monitor vendor advisories, warning the exploited flaws could affect other users of the same appliances.
Why now: The scale of the theft and the exploitation of zero-day flaws in widely used third-party security appliances raise concerns that other exchanges and firms could be exposed to the same attack.
