A-Bombed Virgin Mary statue to carry peace message to New York nuclear-ban talks
Original: A-Bombed Virgin Mary to carry message to NY nuclear-ban talks
A Virgin Mary statue that survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki is set to travel to New York, where it will carry a message for talks on the nuclear ban treaty. The so-called A-Bombed Virgin Mary is expected to serve as a symbol of the human cost of nuclear weapons during discussions on eliminating them.
Why now: The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review or nuclear-ban talks are drawing renewed attention to hibakusha symbols ahead of the discussions.
