Opinion: Giant feedlot warned of risks to cattle and environment
Original: Opinion: Gargantuan feedlot telegraphs woes for cattle and the environment
A Kansas Reflector opinion piece argues that a massive cattle feedlot project signals trouble for animal welfare and the environment. The author contends that concentrating enormous numbers of cattle in one operation raises concerns about pollution, water use, greenhouse gas emissions and the treatment of livestock, framing the proposal as a warning sign for industrial-scale beef production in the region.
Why now: A large feedlot proposal is drawing public concern over its environmental and animal welfare impacts.
