UN says climate adaptation funding for poorer countries has stalled
Original: Funding to help poorer countries cope with climate crisis has stalled, says UN
The United Nations says international funding to help poorer countries adapt to the climate crisis has stalled. Adaptation finance, meant to fund defences against floods, droughts and extreme heat in vulnerable nations, has fallen short of what was promised, leaving developing countries increasingly exposed as climate impacts intensify.
Why now: Ahead of climate negotiations, attention is on whether rich countries are meeting their finance commitments to developing nations.
