Fréjus Christmas market drops foie gras

Original: A Fréjus, le maire RN David Rachline annonce que le marché de Noël municipal ne proposera pas de foie gras cette année.

In Fréjus, southern France, RN mayor David Rachline has announced that the municipal Christmas market will not offer foie gras this year. The move adds to a series of recent measures taken in the name of animal welfare, with France 3 noting the town has also stopped serving meat at official events. The decision is drawing attention because it comes from a far-right mayor, a political camp usually at odds with animal-rights initiatives.

Why now: The unexpected stance of an RN mayor on animal welfare has made it a talking point.
