Dune 3 built a 55-ton spaceship for its opening scene

Original: Movie magic didn't die with The Odyssey, as Dune 3 features a 55-ton spaceship that was built just for the first scene

Denis Villeneuve's third Dune film reportedly features a 55-ton spaceship set constructed specifically for its opening scene, drawing comparisons to Christopher Nolan's practical-effects-heavy The Odyssey. The report frames the build as proof that large-scale, physical filmmaking is still thriving in blockbusters, with film fans praising the scale and craft involved.

Why now: Interest in practical-effects filmmaking is high following attention around Nolan's The Odyssey, and this showcases similarly ambitious craft.
