Original: US EXTENDS NATIONAL EMERGENCY ORDERS RELATED TO CHINA, IRAN
The United States has extended national emergency orders connected to China and Iran. The announcement, reported by Jack DeIta, keeps in place emergency measures that successive administrations have renewed as a basis for sanctions and restrictions on both countries. Observers are reacting to the continued framing of China and Iran as ongoing national security threats.
Why now: The extension signals continued US hard-line posture toward China and Iran at a time of heightened geopolitical tension.
