Amnesty urged as Thailand holds two Uyghurs in detention
Original: amnesty
Rights groups are pressing Thailand not to deport two Uyghur men currently held in immigration detention, warning they could face persecution if returned to China. The World Uyghur Congress has issued a public appeal, and the case is drawing renewed attention to Thailand's treatment of Uyghur detainees and past deportations in the region.
Why now: A new appeal from the World Uyghur Congress over Thailand's threatened deportation of two detained Uyghurs has put the case back in the news.
