A free browser game that simulates United Nations COP climate negotiations is being shared among climate-focused users online. Players take on the role of delegates trying to agree emissions cuts amid pressure over fossil fuels. It arrives as attention turns to the upcoming COP31 summit, with climate advocates using the game to highlight how hard it is to reach ambitious deals and keep fossil fuels in the ground.
Why now: Interest in COP31 and frustration with slow climate diplomacy are driving attention to tools that let people experience the negotiations themselves.
