Scientists map South Sudan's vast antelope migration routes
Original: Mapping the ‘lines of life’ of South Sudan’s vast antelope migration
New mapping work is documenting the 'lines of life' — the migration corridors used by one of the world's largest antelope migrations, spanning vast areas of South Sudan. Conservationists say charting these seasonal routes is key to protecting the animals from threats such as habitat loss, poaching and future development as the country opens up.
Why now: Fresh reporting on one of the largest land migrations on Earth highlights urgent conservation needs in South Sudan.
