Alexander Zverev falls short of World No. 1 after Paris upset

Original: alexander zverev world number one

Alexander Zverev's bid to reach World No. 1 collapsed at the Paris Masters, where he suffered an upset defeat. His girlfriend's earlier boast about his coming World No. 1 ranking quickly aged poorly as a result, drawing mockery online. Fans are debating whether the German star can still claim the top spot before the season ends.

Why now: Zverev's shock Paris Masters loss ended his chance to become World No. 1, prompting reaction to his girlfriend's premature boast.
