Valve is tightening the rules for submitting games to Steam, asking developers to meet basic verification requirements before their titles can go live. The change follows a wave of low-effort, AI-generated games flooding the store, and coverage from outlets like GameSpot frames the move as Valve trying to filter out 'AI slop' while raising questions about how strictly the new rules will be enforced.
Why now: A surge of AI-generated games on Steam has prompted Valve to tighten its submission requirements, sparking debate about store quality control.
