Google dismantles botnet hijacking 1.3 million Android TV devices

Original: https://www. wacoca.com/media/809592/ Google、130万台超のAndroid TV機器を悪用した「XCPE」ボットネットを解体 製造元Videostrongによるバックドア組み込みを指摘、警察庁も協

Google has taken down the XCPE botnet, which exploited more than 1.3 million Android TV devices. Investigators point to backdoors embedded by the devices' manufacturer, Videostrong, which allowed the devices to be remotely hijacked. Japan's National Police Agency cooperated in the operation, and the case is raising concerns over supply-chain security in cheap Android TV hardware.

Why now: The scale of the compromised devices and the allegation that the manufacturer itself embedded the backdoor are prompting security discussions.
