Supporters are raising money for Ahmed, a Palestinian student, hoping to collect £250 by Sunday to make him self-reliant for the first time in three years. Donors say about £35 a day is needed, with £55 raised so far, and they are urging people to share the appeal and chip in small weekly amounts.

Why now: A time-sensitive fundraising deadline has supporters urgently amplifying the appeal.
