A reminder circulating among US politics watchers notes that the 119th Congress remains in its second session, with John Thune as Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Grassley and JD Vance in Senate leadership, and Mike Johnson still Speaker of the House. The post stresses the current session only ends when newly elected members are sworn in and seated, urging people not to assume a transition has already happened.

Why now: Voters are confused about what the sitting Congress can still do before new members are sworn in.
