Montreal cyclist death: prosecutors seek adult sentence for teen accused
Original: accusé
In Montreal, prosecutors are asking that an adolescent accused in the death of a cyclist be sentenced as an adult. The case, reported by Radio-Canada, has drawn attention in Quebec as it moves through the youth justice system. The request for an adult sentence signals that the prosecution views the alleged offence as serious enough to warrant harsher punishment than youth sentencing would allow. The teenager has been accused in connection with the cyclist's death.
Why now: The prosecution's request for an adult sentence in a teenager's case over a cyclist's death is a significant development people are following.
