Uber executives said on an earnings call that only four rides were booked through third-party AI agents during the third quarter of 2026, revealing that automated booking tools remain negligible for the ride-hailing company. The disclosure undercuts predictions that AI agents would soon drive significant business to platforms like Uber, though the figure may grow as agent technology matures.

Why now: The tiny number deflates expectations that AI agents are already reshaping consumer booking, making it a talking point in debates over AI hype.
