Mountain lion becomes first animal on LA wildlife crossing
Original: This iconic L.A. mammal is the first to venture onto the wildlife crossing over the 101 Freeway
A mountain lion, one of Los Angeles's most iconic animals, has become the first mammal to venture onto the wildlife crossing spanning the 101 Freeway. Camera footage recorded the big cat using the bridge, which was built to give wildlife a safe route over the busy highway and connect habitat on either side. The crossing, near Agoura Hills, is the largest of its kind in the world, and conservationists have been eagerly awaiting signs that animals would start using it.
Why now: The first confirmed use of the landmark crossing by a mountain lion is a milestone for the high-profile conservation project.
