Original: Systemd-Free Artix Linux 2026.11 Is Out with Wayland-Only # KDE Plasma 6.8 Desktop Environment https:// 9to5linux.com/sy
Artix Linux, the Arch-based distribution without systemd, has released version 2026.11 featuring the KDE Plasma 6.8 desktop environment running exclusively on Wayland. The update is drawing attention in open-source circles, where Artix is popular among users who prefer Arch Linux without systemd's init system and want to see a fully Wayland-based Plasma experience.
Why now: The release combines two closely watched changes in the Linux community: dropping X11 in favor of Wayland-only KDE Plasma and maintaining a systemd-free system.
