Sponsors threaten to review IIHF ties over Russia's return

Original: The pressure on the International Ice Hockey Federation grew Wednesday as two major sponsors of the men’s world champion

Pressure is mounting on the International Ice Hockey Federation after two major sponsors of the men's world championship said Wednesday they would review their involvement if Russia takes part in the tournament. The sponsors' warnings add to the scrutiny facing the federation over whether to readmit Russia, whose national teams have been excluded from IIHF competitions since the invasion of Ukraine.

Why now: Sponsors publicly threatening to withdraw is new pressure on the IIHF's decision about Russia's participation.
